Intraoral Scanner

What is an intraoral scanner?

Intraoral Scanner

An intraoral scanner is an efficient device that allows Dr. Jacob to take a digital impression without the use of impression putty that is used in traditional dental impressions. A digital dental impression using an intraoral scan provides a detailed view of your teeth so that Dr. Jacob is better able to understand your unique needs. By moving the intraoral scanner over your teeth, the intraoral digital scanner scans your teeth and sends the information to a computer, which then combines the images to make a 3-dimensional visualization of your teeth. In some cases, an intraoral scan may be used to measure your bite alignment.

Digital impressions using an intraoral scanner are done more quickly than traditional impressions that use impression putty. Because an intraoral scanner can provide accurate images of your teeth in just minutes, you spend less time in the chair and enjoy a shorter office visit overall. The knowledge gained from an intraoral scan can be used to properly plan for crowns, bridges, and implant restorations. The results from an intraoral scanner are highly accurate, precise, and can be obtained in just minutes. With an intraoral scanner, Dr. Jacob is able to precisely control what part of your smile that he is scanning. Intraoral scanners allow Dr. Jacob increased mobility so that he can provide you with accurate digital impressions in a fraction of the time.
